LR Children’s Literary represents authors and illustrators of children’s books. We are interested in all genres–picture books, easy readers and early chapter books, middle grade and YA.
Our philosophy is to represent people rather than merely the books they create. To develop a strong partnership between writer and agent.
LR Children’s Literary will assist our clients in all aspects of their creative lives from contract negotiation and rights management to editorial input and long term career planning.
LR Children’s Literary, LLC specializes in children’s books of all genres: picture books, early chapter books, middle grade and young adult literature. Our agency represents both authors and illustrators.
We welcome submissions, and look forward to adding new people to our client list each year. However, since we are a small agency, we are very selective in offering representation. We consider each submission carefully, and do our best to respond quickly. However, please be aware that it takes time to read and consider each manuscript. It may take us up to six weeks to consider an initial query. Please no phone calls.
If you are interested in submitting to us, please read the following guidelines:
We appreciate your interest in our agency, and your careful consideration of our submission guidelines.
I am a writer of children’s stories. I have been published in a number of children’s magazines such as:
I received my MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults at Hamline University.
My final lecture was published in Children & Libraries “Portrait of the Reader as a Young Child.” I am currently working on a paper about the book to fiction translation, “Visual Emotion: The Power Behind Book to Film Adaptation.”
I live on 12 acres with my husband, two dogs, a cat, 2 beehives, nine chickens and two ducks. I am hoping to add goats to that list as soon as I fix my fence.
I am interested in developing a good working relationship with my authors. I would like to work with someone who is not afraid of give and take, back and forth, write and rewrite.
I like stories that have strong characters with a unique twist on a familiar subject. I love humor and mystery, especially in the middle grade level.
I appreciate non-fiction and historical fiction in all genres–especially picture books. I am very interested in the easy readers and early chapter books. I will take on an author/illustrator combination.
